24-hr light-out in new loadshedding timetable?

The worsening power crisis seems to have dawned on consumers as they are already enduring a 24-hour power cut in a new loadshedding schedule, tv3network.com gathers.

This is a departure from the 12 hour lights-out that was contained in the previous loadshedding timetable.

Consumers enjoyed power for 24 hours in that schedule.

High-placed sources at the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) tell tv3network.com that consumers will only enjoy power for 12 hours in this new timetable, which the Company has found difficult to make public for fear of backlash from Ghanaians.

The current deficit of power is 550 megawatts (MW), tv3network.com gathers, as most of the energy-generating plants are out of operation.

Authorities assure that the loadshedding will end when most of the plants come back on stream, a situation which makes the end to the exercise indefinite.
