Winneba(CR), Jan. 30, GNA – Professor Akwasi Asabere-Ameyaw, Vice-Chancellor of University of Education, Winneba (UEW), on Thursday said efforts were being made to establish more study centres to reduce the burden on students who participate in distance education. He therefore urged students to study diligently to justify the investment in them in line with the university’s policy to meet demands of the growing population through distance learning. Prof. Asabere-Ameyaw was speaking at the matriculation of 2,223 students, who would pursue degree courses at UEW through distance learning at Winneba.
They were made up of 1,425 for Basic Education and 798 for Bachelor of Education. He said the University had learning centres at Atebubu, Bechem, Enchi, Kumasi, Navrongo, Tamale and Wa for the northern sector and Accra, Cape Coast, Dambai, Hohoe, Koforidua and Winneba for the southern sector.
Prof Asabere-Ameyaw reminded them that “as you participate in distance learning, you must select learning strategies that would help you learn better.”
About 2,280 students were admitted last year for distance learning.
