21-year-old man gaoled for stealing

Kumasi, June 1, GNA – A 21-year-old man has been gaoled for two years, by a Kumasi Circuit Court, for taking advantage of the absence of a neighbour to break into her room and stole items worth 9.3 million cedis.

Yaw Appiah pleaded guilty for unlawful entry and stealing. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Agnes Dinkyini told the court presided over by Mr Essel Mensah that at about 1000 hours on May 25 this year, the complainant, Ms Vivian Nketia, who lives at the same vicinity at Pankrono, a suburb of Kumasi with the accused person, locked her door and travelled.

Appiah, who was monitoring the movement of the complainant, scaled the fence and forced his way to her room by removing some louvre blades. Inspector Dinkyini said the accused then ransacked the room of jewellery, wristwatches, an electric iron and some apparel. He run out of luck, when he was spotted and arrested by people in the neighbourhood.
