21 fined for defecating along the Motorway

Tema, Jan. 15, GNA- A Tema Magistrate Court on Thursday fined 21 persons a total sum of 5.250 million cedis, in default one month imprisonment each for defecating at an unauthorised place along the Accra-Tema Motorway.

Each person was fined 250,000 cedis to a charge of defecating at public places.

They all pleaded guilty and the presiding Magistrate Mrs Florence Ninepence decided to deal with them leniently for showing remorse. The prosecutor, Nii Ayetei Nsakie of the Tema Municipal Assembly (TMA) said for sometime now, the Municipal Assembly had been educating the community to stop defecating along the Motorway.

He said on Thursday, January 15, this year, around 0500 hrs, the TMA Task Force, on their normal duties arrested the accused persons who were then defecating at the unauthorised place.
