2025 Tu’ Anko Festival: Asamankese Chief Hints for Repatriation of Heritage Artifacts from Colonial Masters

The chief of Asamankese in the Eastern Region of Ghana, Osaberima Adu Darko III, has chanced on this year’s Tu’ Anko festival, celebrated by the people of Twifo Hemang in the Central Region as the Guest of Honour to urge the international community to return the heritage artifacts to the people of Twifoman.

He, therefore, charged the Twifoman paramountcy to proceed on having all its heritage artifacts retrieved from its colonial masters, having had them recoup a lot from it for decades now by way of tourism.

The chief emphasized the importance of these artifacts in preserving the cultural heritage and identity of the people.

“We will advocate for the returning of the historic artifact after many years in the western world,” Osaberima Adu Darko III noted.

He made the assertion at the grand durbar of the 2025 Tu’ Anko festival on  Saturday, 15th November, 2025, celebrated under the theme: “Unlocking Developmental Potentials Through Festival.”

In an address delivered on behalf of the Central Regional Minister by Chief Mark Dery, the NDC Central Regional Organizer and a Presidential Staffer, renewed the hopes of the government for traditional leaders who seeks to prioritize development.

He admonished that “the president commends the desire to raise funds to furnish the college of Health and Allied Sciences proposed for establishment at Hemang by the paramount chief, Otumfuo Amoah Sasraku IV and seek to enroll students for the 2026-2027 academic year.”

Mr. Kobina Ansu Amponsah, the CEO of Nkunim Group of Companies, urged the government and other stakeholders to aid in constructing factories to curve the unemployment menace as he has done over the years.

“Twifoman are predominantly in agriculture, so the government should consider in establishing factories that are into agric,” he required.
