2016 Election: Nov 7 date irresponsible – Amoako Baah

A senior political science lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) says that it will be irresponsible on the part of Ghanaians to go to polls on November 7th, 2016.

Speaking on Atinka FM’s AM Drive with Kaakyere Ofori Ayim, Dr. Amoako Baah mentioned that considering where Ghana as a country is at the moment, we are not ready to go to the polls come November 2016.

He added that the Electoral Commission of Ghana might be ready to conduct the elections on 7th November.

However following their current court issues and proceedings, it will be best if the elections are conducted in December this year and probably moved to November in 2020.

He added that it would be appropriate if the EC does not state a specific date for the elections but rather consider scheduling the elections on the first Thursday or Friday in November which will not put too much stress on the Commission if the date falls on a weekday or a weekend.

He added that this would bring about a stress-free election for both sides.
