20-year old man jailed 10 years for defilement

A Takoradi Circuit court has jailed a 20-year old man, Nana Kwesi Baffoe to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a six-year old girl at Anaji in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis.

The convict pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement and pleaded for forgiveness; however, the presiding judge, Madam Rita Doku, sentenced him accordingly.

He was also fined GH?3, 000.00 to be paid as compensation to the victim to pay her medical expenses.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mr. Thomas Bayor, the complainant was the mother of the victim, who reside in the same house with the convict at Anaji, a suburb of Takoradi.

On Wednesday August 12, this year, the mother of the victim left the house for the market, whiles her daughter was asleep.

On returning home around 1000 hours on the same day, she was told Baffoe had sneaked into the room and sexually abused the daughter resulting in the victim bleeding profusely.

The loud shouts of the girl attracted neighbours, who arrested Baffoe and handed him over to the police whiles the victim was sent to Jemima clinic at Kwesimintsim for treatment.
