2 deliveries in Kwesimistim/Takoradi Hospitals on New Year’s Day

Takoradi, Jan. 2, GNA – Two babies were delivered at the Kwesiminstim and Takoradi Hospitals on New Year’s Day. Both the babies and their mothers were doing well when the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited the hospitals on Monday.

Madam Esther Korkor a Midwife Superintendent, in an interview with the GNA said the only girl was delivered at 0630 hours on New Year’s Day.

She advised pregnant women to make antenatal clinic their priority and to avoid self-medication.

Madam Korkor said some pregnant women did not eat balanced diets and also refused to take their drugs, adding that, such attitude could have adverse effects on their babies.

She advised couples to seriously plan their families, to enable them to take proper care of their children. At the Takoradi Hospital, Madam Theresa Nyamekye, a Principal Midwife Superintendent, said the only boy was delivered at 1530 hours on New Year’s Day. She also advised pregnant women to have sufficient rest and to eat balanced diets.

Madam Nyamekye reminded families to use insecticide treated bed nets to prevent malaria.
