18-month Jail Term for Ghanaian

Banjul, Gambia — A Ghanaian national was last week fined D10,000 in default to serve 18-month jail term with hard labour.

Francis Awdi Antini was found guilty on two-count charges of obtaining money on false pretences as well as giving a false information as an official of a company.

Francis had admitted culpability of the crimes of making a false publication on Daily Observer, announcing vacancy positions for air hostesses and flight attendants knowing fully well that the information was false. He had also admitted responsibility for obtaining D16,400 from 41 people on false on false pretences.

The case was chaired by magistrate B.Y. Camara.
