18 communities in Asikuma to enjoy potable water

Some eighteen communities in the Asikuma-Odoben Brakwa District in the central Region will soon have pumps installed on their boreholes to ensure they access potable water in those communities.

This follows the successful procurement of pumps by the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) in the Central Region.

Samuel Adom Botchway, District Chief Executive for the area urged assembly members of the beneficiary towns and villages to monitor the contractors during the installation process as they will soon commence work.

Beneficiary communities include: Kojo Nkwanta, Asemasa, Kofi Ninsin, Tomsease, Anhwiam, Wasabiampa, Edukrom, Akawaso, Asomdwekrom, Kwakuboah, and Oppongkwaa.

The rest are Dawrampon, Ampaakobi, Nkwanta Eshiem, Ohenekrom, Nyamakyere, Odose and Ohiatua.

In addiotion to the above, the district has also been awarded with fifteen institutional boreholes under the GoG/ UNICEF WASH PROJECT.

They include Kyirakaa D/A, New Faith Baptist School, Amanbete, Kwanan D/A, TI Ahmadiyya, Odoben New Town, Zion KG, Primary and Junior High School, Odoben, Amafua D/A, Odoben, New Faith Baptist School, Odoben Nkwanta, Abuokuwa Catholic, Yenkukwa Presby, Brakwa Eshiem Basic School, Ofabir DA, Eduosia DA, Ogonaso DA, Adandan DA Junior High School, and Toboase DA Basic.

Furthermore, five institutional latrins at Asikuma, Jamra, Brakwa, Ochisoa and Nankese CHPS compounds under the CWSA-IDA are nearing completion.

Finally, the Small Town Water System at Benin is also progressing steadily whilst the one at Baako has been given the much needed impetus for smooth takeoff despite initial setbacks, the DCE has stated.
