16 Rescued After Severe Head-On Crash on Sunyani–Kumasi Highway

Sixteen people have been rescued by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) after a head-on crash at Nyamebekyere on Tuesday morning.

The collision occurred on the Sunyani–Kumasi Highway and involved a Ford Transit with registration AS 7172-23 and a Kia Rhino with registration AS 3058-X. Firefighters from the Bechem Fire Station received a distress call at 5:38 a.m. and rushed to the scene.

Led by STNO II Simon Yeboah, an eight-member rescue crew worked to free all 16 occupants—14 from the Ford Transit and two from the Kia Rhino. The injured were taken to the Bechem Government Hospital and the PISGAH Advanced Medical Centre for medical care.

Though the victims suffered various injuries, officials confirmed that no deaths occurred.

Both vehicles were severely damaged, and an investigation is underway to determine what led to the crash.
