A total of 151 students of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) have been dismissed for abysmal performance since the beginning of this year. They are made up of 128 level 100 students and 23 level 200 and 300 students.
The students failed in more than three-credit courses or failed to redeem themselves in supplementary examinations organised by the university to enable them continue their studies.
The Vice Chancellor of UCC, Prof Emmanuel Adow-Obeng, who made this known at a ceremony to matriculate 4,158 fresh students into the university at the weekend, said another 40 students who failed in three-credit courses were to be repeated to redeem themselves within one academic year which, failure to succeed would warrant outright dismissal.
He, therefore, advised fresh students to study diligently to ensure their continuous stay in the university, urging them to make good use of time on campus.
Rev. Adow-Obeng also advised the fresh students to adhere to school rules and regulations, warning that recalcitrant students who would breach university rules are likely to be either rusticated or dismissed outright.
On campus security, the Vice chancellor said a ¢400 million Police Post established on campus with funding from Ms Christine Churcher, Member of Parliament (MP) for Cape coast, had helped improve upon security there.
