150 criminals arrested in Kumasi in dawn swoop

Police in Kumasi in the Ashanti region have arrested over 150 suspected criminals in a Friday dawn swoop.

The suspects were arrested from the various drug selling points in Kumasi. They are currently being screened for possible prosecution by the Police.

The move is part of efforts to rid the Ashanti regional capital of criminals.

Over the last few weeks, crime has been on the rise in Kumasi and its environs. Recent attacks by robbers have led to the killing of six people in the last two weeks.

The development has prompted the dispatch of the anti-terror squad of the police service to the region to quell the rising spate of crime.

The suspects will be paraded for identification next week.

Meanwhile, the regional Police commander DCOP Kofi Boakye has given the assurance that all will be done to ensure the safety of residents and properties in the region.
