15-yr girl murdered a day after fleeing home

Aflao, Aug. 11, GNA – A fifteen-year old girl, who fled her parent’s home in Aflao on Friday following the father’s threat to beat her, was later found dead in an uncompleted building. Lawoe Billabana was found in a pool of blood, stripped naked with her throat cut open and legs crossed. The body was discovered at a location not far from the parent’s residence the following morning. The body has since been deposited at the Ketu-South District Hospital morgue pending autopsy.

A number of people have been interrogated by the Aflao Police but no arrest has been made so far.

A source close to the police told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the deceased was staying with her step-mother, Akim Mifetu, a chop bar operator at Mifetukope, a coastal community at Viepe a suburb of Aflao. The source said the deceased person’s father named only as Billabana resident in Togo was said to have visited the deceased and the step mother at Mifetukope on Friday August 7, this year. He said while there the wife, Akim Mifetu and step mother of the deceased complained about the deceased’s waywardness, which angered Billabana and threatened to spank the daughter. The source said the deceased was said to have fled the house that evening fearing that the father would beat her. An effort by the parents to trace her whereabouts that evening failed but was found by a young man.

About a month ago, a boy, aged six, who disappeared for three days, was also found dead and buried in an uncompleted building around the same vicinity.
