15 died on the spot in a gruesome accident in the Central Region

A total of 15 people died on the spot when two vehicles collided in a grisly accident at Ekumfi Asiakyere junction in the Central Region.

The Mankessim District Police Commander, ASP Kofi Maya who confirmed the incident to 3news.com said the accident happened at about 10:30am on Sunday.

The vehicles involved a Yutong bus with registration number GN 3973-09 and Sprinter mini bus with a registration number AS 5622- 14. “It was a head-on collision and 15 people died on the spot,” he said.

The Yutong bus was traveling from Takoradi in the Western Region to Accra, whilst the Sprinter was on its way from Accra to Obuasi. One of the drivers might have lost control of the vehicle resulting in the collision, ASP Maya noted.

The injured were rushed to the Apam Government Hospital. The bodies of those who lost their lives were sent to the Saltpond Hospital morgue.
