Akyem-Swedru, Oct 21, GNA – A 60-year-old driver, Kwadwo Ahinful, who defiled an 11-year-old primary four pupil at Akyem-Akyiase has been jailed for 14 years by the Akyem Swedru Circuit Court. Ahinful was convicted on his own plea of guilty to the charge of defilement on Wednesday.
Prosecuting, Chief Police Inspector Ben Osei told the court that the convict lived in the same house with the victim and her grandmother. On September 30, Ahinful returned from town and met the victim alone in the house, studying.
The convict invited the victim to study in his room to which she refused but he pulled her into his room, gagged her and forcibly had sex with her.
He gave the victim 1,000 cedis to buy food and warned her not to tell anybody what happened.
On October 03, the girl narrated her ordeal to her mates and they in turn informed her grandmother. The victim told her grandmother that the convict had, at another time, had sex with her in the kitchen. When the convict was confronted he admitted the offence but pleaded for amicable settlement but it was turned down.
