133 contest 42 seats in Asante-Akim North

Konongo (Ash), Sept 5, GNA 96 About 133 people are contesting 42 seats in the forthcoming district assembly elections in the Asante-Akim North District. A total of 15 women are contesting this year as against seven in 2002.

Mr Mensah Boateng, the District Electoral Officer, told the Ghana News Agency that with the exception of the unit committee, this year’s election has seen a tremendous improvement in terms of patronage. Mr Boateng commended the general conduct of the candidates and their followers, having mounted platforms in 22 electoral areas without any nasty incident. 05 Sept 06
