11 Drivers Fined For Parking At Unauthorized Places

Cape Coast, (Central Region) 23 Sept., Eleven drivers were yesterday fined a total of 165,000 cedis by the regional tribunal in Cape Coast for parking at unauthorised places in the municipality. They are John Abaka, James Carr Arthur, Issaka Ibrahim, John Arthur, Samuel Entsi, Paul Donkor, Daniel Acquah, Joseph Sam, Ahmed Asare, Samuel Amponsah, all taxi drivers and Seth Peprah, a mini-bus driver. Each of them was fined 15,000 cedis or in default one month imprisonment in hard labour. They all pleaded guilty to parking at prohibited places. Speaking to the press later, Mr R.A. Doku, station officer at the motor traffic and transport unit in Cape Coast, said his outfit will carry out similar exercises daily to ensure sanity in the municipality. He appealed to drivers to obey road signs.
