100 Ex-convicts Besiege Asuboi

Asuboi, a farming community near Suhum in the Eastern Region has come under threat as over 100 ex-convicts released from the Nsawam Medium Security Prison have settled in the area and are perpetuating various crimes.

They have even resorted to training some of the youth in their criminal activities thereby leading to an increase in crime wave within the community.

In view of these problems, the Assembly member for Asuboi, Teye Victor Obuobi has called on the Inspector General of Police, Nana Owusu Nsiah to build a police post to bring the situation under control as a matter of urgency.

He said upon their release from prison, the ex-convicts settle in the village under the pretext of embarking on farming to gather funds and travel to their various destinations. But they end up perpetuating crime and peddling hard drugs.
