10 years for bid to smuggle heroin

Dubai: A Dubai Court has sentenced a Ghanaian, Ivorian and Nigerian to 10 years in jail for possessing 147 capsules of heroin weighing more than 2.2 kg, which they planned to smuggle to China as well. They were fined Dh50,000 each.

Presiding Judge Abdul Majid Al Nezamy also imposed on 34-year-old Nigerian visitor J.A. a similar fine and jail sentence for possessing 448 heroin capsules totalling about seven kg, for sale
