¥11bn loan approved for Volta bridge

Ghana’s Parliament has approved a loan agreement worth ¥11billion for the construction of a bridge at Volivo across the Volta River on the Eastern Corridor road within the Volta Region.

The Chairman of the Finance Committee, James Kludze Avedzi announced this on the floor of parliament on Monday October 31.

According to him, the new bridge was purposed to ease the pressure on the Adomi Bridge so as to facilitate free movement of goods and services.

Class 91.3FM’s parliamentary correspondent Ekow Annan, who was in Parliament reported that both sides of the House agreed that there was the need for another bridge, hence, no objections were raised during the approval process.

He said the Minority spokesperson on Finance, Dr Anthony Akoto Osei urged “members to support and adopt the finance committee’s report and also commended the Ministry of Finance for initiating such an important agreement.”
